The Medicare Program

Medicare is a health insurance program for:

•  People age 65 or older
•  Some people under age 65, with disabilities
•  People with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent Kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant)

Original Medicare has Four (4) Parts

•  Part A: Hospital Insurance
   Most people do not have to pay for Part A

•  Part B: Medical Insurance
   Most people pay monthly for Part B

•  Part C: Medicare Advantage (Managed Care Plans)
•  Part D: Prescription Drug Coverage (New January 1, 2006)
